We invite you to participate in the parenting skills development programs “PARENTING GUIDE”

The Public Health Bureau of Alytus City Municipality is launching the implementation of the agreement for the pilot introduction of model descriptions under the state budget-funded project "Ensuring the Accessibility of Comprehensive and Integrated, Evidence-Based Public Health Services, and Providing Basic Public Health Services to Target Groups" dated April 24, 2025, PPP-6. It is also initiating the implementation of the model description for strengthening maternal, child, and family health in the municipality, prepared by the Hygiene Institute, and is organizing the parenting skills development program "Parenting Guide."

The aim of this program is to improve the accessibility and quality of public health strengthening services for mothers, children, and families in municipalities, and to develop healthy lifestyle skills in the following topics: healthy nutrition, physical activity, mental health, the harm of psychoactive substance use, strengthening mental health, maternal and child health, and prevention of communicable diseases. The “Parenting Guide” program is intended for the following target groups:

  • Pregnant women and/or expecting families (sessions can be attended by both parents or just one) – 39 academic hours cycle.
  • Families raising children from 0 to 3 years old (sessions can be attended by both parents or just one) – 43 academic hours cycle.

The sessions will include both theoretical and practical parts:

  • Introduction to the sessions
  • Health-friendly nutrition;
  • The importance of physical activity for health strengthening;
  • The harm of psychoactive substance use;
  • Mental health strengthening;
  • Women's health;
  • Child's health;
  • Prevention of communicable diseases.
  • Session summary, discussion of results, participant consultation
